Beginning of the Forest

MOSScape was inspired by moss, which is a non-vascular plant possessing a soft green texture. The longest surviving record for moss was 40 years without watering. Moss is often associated with mould, dirt and darkness, however, moss might be one of the purest and simplest plant forms in the world.

Moss is the beginning of the forest; they erode artificial surfaces and transfer them into soil, as well as store and filter water through their little leaves. However most importantly, they purify the polluted air through photosynthesis, much like any other plant.

The moss research diary shows experiments and observations through different scales of moss. The relationship between moss and building materials are investigated and experiments such as the installation and growing moss are also documented in this book.
